Total Maternal Support is a perinatal safe spot and proudly serves as a critical bridge between BIPOC families and the support systems they need to thrive. By partnering with us, you are strengthening the local perinatal safety net and working to close the stark equity gaps in our community.

Integrated Support & Warm Referrals: Seamlessly connect your most vulnerable patients with doulas who provide sustained support, leading to higher rates of appointment adherence and compliance with post-discharge instructions. ***Referral portal below
Improved Clinical Outcomes: Studies consistently show doula support reduces interventions and C-sections, improving key institutional maternal health metrics and satisfaction scores.

We provide the hands-on, sustained support necessary for families to successfully utilize your services and achieve long-term stability. ***Partnership Inquiry below

Effective Resource Utilization: We ensure that complex social needs are met, maximizing the effectiveness of your existing programs (WIC, housing, financial assistance) and preventing gaps in care.
Accountability & Data: We track non-clinical support hours, resource connections, and client engagement, providing measurable data on the impact of community-based interventions for grant reporting and outcome analysis.

Submit a Warm Referral

Thank you for trusting TMS with the care of your referral. After we receive the submitted referral successfully we will review the client's needs and context (EDD, primary needs, trauma considerations) and will begin the process of matching them with a qualified Community Doula from our team.

What Happens Next:

Matching: We anticipate making a provisional doula match within 3-5 business days.
Client Contact: The assigned doula will attempt to contact the client directly using the provided information within 48 hours of the match.
Follow-Up: We will notify you once the doula has successfully connected with the client and services have been initiated.

Maximizing Impact: The Importance of Timely Referral

At TMS, we are deeply committed to honoring every referral from our valued community partners and ensuring every family receives access to our justice-centered care model.

However, the effectiveness and impact of doula support are directly tied to the duration of the relationship and the client's gestational age.

While we make every effort to accommodate all referrals, we strongly encourage partners to initiate contact as soon as possible in the pregnancy (ideally before 28 weeks gestation when possible).

Why Timing Matters for Justice-Centered Care:

Deeper Trust and Trauma-Informed Safety: Building the profound, safe relationship required for trauma-informed care takes time. Early referral allows the doula to establish foundational trust well before the intensity of the birth.
Addressing SDOH: Our ability to address complex Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) issues—such as housing stability, food insecurity, and resource mapping—requires lead time to navigate bureaucratic processes.
Comprehensive Prenatal Education: Early connection allows the client to fully benefit from our comprehensive prenatal education, including birth planning, self-advocacy coaching, and preparing for postpartum adjustment.
Doula Availability: Our specialized, mission-driven doulas have dedicated on-call periods. Later referrals increase the likelihood of needing to utilize limited backup resources or missing the window for full, cohesive support.

We are dedicated to serving your clients, but please be advised that referrals made after 36 weeks gestation may be subject to availability and may receive reduced offerings due to time constraints.
