What a blessing to have a super man. My other half and I have been partners doing life together over a decade, wed in 2015, and look forward to many more to come! As 1 half of a couple myself, I focus on inclusion of partners in the processes I assist with. My husband's presence was instrumental in my pregnancy, birthing, and postpartum experiences. IF only we knew then what we know now, however, together we made it through and I am forever grateful to have had such selfless partner who cared for me and actively present for me and our family. His unconditional and unwavering love is the unsung hero in our love story and my answering of the calling to serve in the birth world. I could not have done this work without him.
I am blessed with 4 children. I birthed 3 of those children earth-side via cesareans. Each pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences forged the flames of the fire of my passion that burns to serve growing families in the triad.
I am a Red Cross infant, child, and adult first aid, AED, CPR , BLS and NRP certified. DTI trained full spectrum doula, IDI trained birth and postpartum doula, and MAAME, Inc. trained community birth Doula. Dedicated to serving mothers and their families in the community where they are and helping them to achieve the births and postpartum experiences of their desires and on their terms.
I am a International Doula Institute certified breastfeeding counselor as well as a Loving Support trained peer counselor and I aim to help establish and sustain breastmilk supplies for those who desire to breastfeed. I also facilitate informal milk sharing in my private community for moms.
I am an International Doula Institute certified childbirth educator whose objective is to empower you with knowledge to dispel fear of the unknown that is needed to make informed decisions and give informed consent in you and your baby's best interest during your pregnancy, labor, and birth.
WCPS trained to turn your sacred placenta into wellness tools to optimize your postpartum healing. I am Novant health and Biologix Solutions Blood-born Pathogens & Infection Control Certified to ensure the highest level of safety and sanitation for best results.
As a CITI trained researcher via Wake Forest Atrium and The University of North Carolin at Chapel Hill, I explore the intersections of maternal health and community action, aligning my endeavors with the core values, vision, and philosophy that underpin the foundation of TMS. I am a lead researcher for the By Mothers Research Project funded by the amazing Kate B. Reynolds Foundation and a doula in the Acure4Moms research study funded by PCORI. Through these projects I aim to deepen understanding of current disparities and foster a supportive environment for mothers and their families, and doulas integration into the health system and community, all the while, actively doing our part to contribute to the advancement of maternal health practices and policies that resonate with TMS vision for community in relation to the respectful care of Black and Brown people. My collaborative endeavors not only inform TMS but also inspire meaningful change in the landscape of outdated maternal care as we know it.
I am a teacher and natural nurturer at heart. I provide guidance and support to fellow doulas, advanced maternal aged, and teen parents, helping them to navigate the private and community doula profession and the challenges of arriving at parenthood at an early or late age. I actively engage and volunteer with various local organizations and initiatives to address the needs of underrepresented groups, dedicating my free time to particularly serving teen mothers, Black women, and families. By amplifying their voices and fostering connections my advocacy efforts power community collaboration, leading to equitable access to resources. I am always seeking opportunities to make a positive impact in my community. I am deeply committed to enhancing the well-being of families and I am driven by a commitment to empower others, share knowledge, and foster resilience among those I encounter, ensuring they feel seen, supported, loved, and equipped to thrive in their journeys.
When I became a mother in 2012, I also became the founder of MOMS Tribe, a private community and support group for mothers on Facebook that addresses the support needs of over 200 members. In addition, I established a safe space group chat aimed at uniting doulas of color in Winston-Salem and Forsyth County to uplift and empower one another in our shared mission to serve the community. From that curated doula space for Black doula was born the vision to take it further and create a program. Together with dedicated participants and beloved doula peers, we are in the process of launching a nonprofit community doula organization, working to mobilize in the Triad and bridge the gaps in doula support for families in need. My role as the founder is truly a labor of love and is driven by a passion for fostering connection, support, and empowerment within our community and removing barriers to culturally congruent doula support. Stay tuned for the launch of The Birth Mark Collective!

At Total Maternal Support, our philosophies are a reflection of our commitment to nurturing and supporting families throughout their childbirth journeys. We honor the choices parents make and strive to create an environment where every individual feels respected, empowered, and cared for while working towards healthier families and communities.
When it comes to...
Maternal Mortality Disparities:
We believe that all parents deserve equitable access to safe and supportive care during pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum. By advocating for systemic changes, education, and awareness, we aim to address and prevent maternal mortality disparities within marginalized communities. We work collaboratively with healthcare providers to ensure that all voices are heard and respected.
Empowering Breastfeeding as a Health Strategy:
Recognizing the significant health benefits of breastfeeding, we advocate for diverse and informed feeding choices that enhance the well-being of mothers and infants, particularly within communities of color. The data shows that breastfeeding can reduce infant mortality rates and improve maternal health outcomes, but we respect and honor the diverse choices that families make regarding how they nourish their children.
Holistic Approach to Maternal Health:
We recognize that maternal health is interconnected with physical, mental, emotional, and social well-being. Preparing for childbirth goes far beyond Google searches, eating dates, and drinking red raspberry leaf tea. One needs to prepare all aspects of their being - mind, body, and spirit - in order to have the most fulfilling birthing experience. Our philosophy encompasses a holistic approach that prioritizes mental health support, community resources, and self-care practices, aiming to create an environment in which every parent can thrive.
Inclusivity and Respect for Fathers:
We are committed to providing support that uplifts and acknowledges fathers. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, and our services are designed to be inclusive and affirming for all dads, regardless of their journey to parenthood because they too are having a baby. Fathers and birth partners can be a deeply involved and essential part of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Their loving presence and knowledge is welcomed and needed - but they deserve support throughout the process as well.
Education as Empowerment:
We believe that knowledge is power. By providing comprehensive education and evidence-based information, we empower parents to make informed choices about their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum experiences. Our goal is to demystify the birthing process and equip families with the tools they need for advocacy and self-advocacy.
Birth as a Physiological Process:
We wholeheartedly believe, birth is a core, normal part of the human experience, powered by the body's natural instincts and hormones for both mothers and fathers- not a medical event even if medical care is used in labor and delivery. Interventions and variations of birth are tools and options at every clients disposal to be used to ensure safety of mother and baby and not necessities unless in true emergences. However, everyone is entitled to comprehensive birth support - no matter the kind of birth they desire or need. Whether you want to birth naturally or utilize modern medicine is your decision and yours alone, and will not be faced with judgment. We see you, we hear you, and we want what you want for you!
Uniformity of Care:
Your individual needs supersede any checklist or agenda. Our work is not a one size fit all! TMS addition to your support network in your childbearing year is catered to your specific situation and tailored to your personal desires. We understand that every parent is different, and we will support you in a way that feels safe, comfortable, individualized, and complete.
Birth "Planning":
Giving birth is similar to rolling dice. We do not know what we will get. We can hope for 7 or 11, but if you want to make God laugh tell Him your plans. The only thing predictable about birth is that it’s unpredictable. While we believe in the power and necessity of birth preparation, very few aspects of birth can be fully controlled. Together, we will set intentions and do the work to be able to go with the flow and ride the waves accordingly. Unexpected and adverse events can always occur. While we cannot control them, rest assured - you will never walk alone.
Pain:
Pain, in one form or another, is an inevitable part of the birthing experience. It should not be feared nor ran away from - rather, it should be embraced, accepted, and surrendered to. Suffering, however, is not necessary and can be eased!
Community:
Our support for you goes far beyond the birth space. As you navigate postpartum and parenthood, we are willing to walk alongside of you - fully, wholeheartedly, unconditionally - exactly the way you deserve.
